Yesterday i and the  whole senior syndicate and some year 6’s went to the maritime museum there were 3 rotations. One was learning about what people would use to navigate where they are or where to go.the second rotation was looking around the museum but you could only look and be inspired by what stuff they used back then. The last one was going on a boat and go to the Harbour bridge on it and listen to there story on what they would use to travel.Since there were three classes and three rotations each class went to the rotation room 12 went to rotation 1 room 13 went to rotation 2 and room 11 went to rotation 3.I went to look around the museum with my group,my group was Savannah,Helena, and Annitah first we went to look at this old boat that Collin Quincy went on he was the first person to row all the way to tasman he had a really big chance of dying 50/50 percent chance and he is now 71 years old it took 63 days and 7 hours to row across on a waka. Next we went to a fake store and the fake house the house had this gramophone and a old tv.The store had this old cash register and freezers with nothing.

The second rotation was when we went on a waka that had an engine on it. One of the people who were on the ship told us a story on what they used for navigation. They used stars, clouds, sun, moon, birds, waves and more. They would use their hands and put it were the stars were. The clouds were different shades and that’s how they knew were they were going .The sun was because it rises in the east and sets in the west the. Moon was because it comes from the east and sets in the west. The birds were because all the birds come to find food in the afternoon and they would follow the birds because normally they would have to find an island to eat. And lastly the waves were because they would hit against the boat and it would face it to the right direction. We turned the boat around and started the next rotation.

The last rotation we did was the one when we learned about what bird they would follow but I forgot what it was called. We also learnt what they used to make the boat. They used this rope that comes from coconut’s husk it’s a reddish type of colour and that’s all we did.

Going to the maritime museum was really fun.
